About (DAI)
DAI is an organisation of person with disabilities, led by a person with disability and facilitates inclusion of persons with disabilities. DAI is dedicated to furthering the social inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria and focuses on creatively addressing the social challenges that confront PWDs in their strive for socio economic empowerment and adopts result-driven approach to executing its activities, programs and projects. DAI focuses on project implementation, inclusion, accessibility and policy development that advances the potentials and capacities of PWDs. our mandate lies with the foundation of our organisation’s values and is embodied in our approach to its pursuit of social inclusion. Essentially, DAI is committed to equip, empower and social advancement of persons with disabilities. The Executive Director of the organization being a Person with visual impairment, our organization takes seriously on putting PWDs at the centre-piece of our strategic and operational thrust and taking cognizance of the peculiarities of their challenges. This also reflects in the way we pursue partnership and collaboration with other organization. As our principles aligns with ‘nothing about us is without us’.

PARTNERSHIPS AND COLLABORATIONS
Disability Rights Fund: DAI is working with Disability Rights Advocacy Center as a coalition member funded by Disability Rights Fund (DRF) to implement the Policy to Action Project which is aimed at improving access to SRHR for persons with disabilities in Benue and Plateau State. Pepraspective LTD: Supported DAI to distribute Palliative to 300 household of persons with disabilities in the FCt. The Leprosy Mission Nigeria: DAI was supported by TLMN to conduct advocacy for implementation of the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities Prohibition Act, 2018. Through this support DAI has sensitized key government institutions on their role in implementing the Disability Act. Nigeria Association of the Blind FCT chapter: In 2020, DAI supported NAB-FCT efforts in improving access to public infrastructure through advocacies, awareness creation and sensitization of thr disability community to be able to advocate for a more inclusive and accessible society. Some of the joint activities carried out include: accessibility audit of public government institutions, training for OPDs on advocacy
